Real Recruiting Story

The inception of the Real Recruiting Podcast burgeoned due to a lapse in the market of candid commentary from college athletes and their respective parents. Current and former college coaches, coupled with other academic aficionados serve as excellent resources when it comes to learning “how-to,” and “what to do” as it relates to college recruiting. However, first hand anecdotes from committed players are typically shared very narrowly to their family members or closest friends. There is a huge benefit from hearing first hand from people who have walked the path ahead of you.

About

Mark Wrighte has been involved with college recruiting for over a decade. He currently coaches both high school and showcase baseball. Since 2010, he has been traveling the country coaching and networking with high school prospects, their parents, and numerous college coaches. Coach Wrighte has helped dozens of players navigate the recruiting process into the Ivy League, Power 5 Conferences, and a myriad of other D1 conferences. He has also guided 100’s of players who have committed to Junior College (JUCO), D2, and D3. He draws upon his participation with two separate nationally ranked showcase baseball organizations when helping players and parents find the right college fit.

Mark has also spent time coaching softball; traveling to national recruiting events such as the D9 Sun Classic in Florida, and he served as a board member for the nationally ranked, Vienna Stars Softball program. Mark continues to do lessons with high school and college softball players, but his primary efforts remain focused on baseball.

Coach Wrighte has served on recruiting panels and spoke to broad audiences, but often speaks individually with parents and players to discuss the recruitment process. Mark is able to rely upon his decade-old experience with players, but he also draws upon family experiences, having successfully navigated the college recruiting process on two separate occasions with his son for D1 baseball and daughter to SEC gymnastics.  This podcast now offers Mark and committed players an opportunity to reflect back on the overall process.

The verbal commitment, coupled with the National Letter of Intent has historically served as “The End” of the recruiting process. However, Coach Wrighte is now cracking the door back open and asking current college players to reflect on their respective recruitment process. The Real Recruiting Podcast will release weekly shows during the two respective showcase seasons; summer and fall. During the off season, a limited number of special podcasts will also be released to complement the seasonal shows.
